Have you ever been concerned that your precious ipod might be stolen? Well worry no more. This has to be the BEST anti-theft product for an ipod
For those of you who might be interested in knowing, A Different Drum released Virtual Server “Setup” a few months ago. This CD features one of my photographs on the cover. I have not heard the CD, however you can purchase it at the above link. If you want to see the original photograph you can see it in my gallery.
Due to some web hosting upgrades I decided it was time to upgrade this site to the latest software. In doing this there have been some upgrades to the functionality of this site. A big thanks goes to James who helped me upgrade the site, without his help this upgrade would not have been possible. Also I have uploaded a few new photos to the “people” gallery. I hope you enjoy the photos. I can’t say that there will be to many updates to this site in the near future due to the fact that I’ve been busy with life, and I haven’t been working much in photography. I have however been working on a 3D project, so perhaps someday I’ll get some of those finished to a point of being presentable. Another reason there probably won’t be to many updates is that I have also grown dissatisfied with most forms of online communication, which includes blogging. I much rather communicate with people in person when possible. I figure this isn’t a surprise to most people that know me since I almost never chat online anymore, and this has been my first blog/news post in over a year, lol.. Anyway I hope you enjoy the updates, and perhaps there will be more sooner rather than later.
Every once and a while I stumble across something truly innovative. Recently in my web surfing (on Slashdot) I came across a site called Scanner Photography. The concept and method of producing his photographs I find very inspiring. His approach of using a custom made camera utilizing a scanner results in images that are simply stunning. This guy’s work is one of the few collections of photographs recently that has really made me stop and think about them. All too often photographs end up being things that are simply snapshots that have little artistic depth (Not that it’s a bad thing though). Even with extraordinary photographs, the images end up being simply things that are pleasing to the eyes, without much depth to them. I found this person’s work to be so refreshing in that it makes you think about what you’re seeing, and evaluate what is going on in the photograph. So needless to say I recommend checking out his site... however, you may want to try one of his mirrors since he is currently experiencing the negative effects of being slashdotted and needing to find a way to pay for the insane amount of bandwidth that was used by visitors.
A friend introduced me to a band named Family Force 5 and their latest video the other day, and while I normally enjoy music videos, I don’t often feel like they’re worth telling too many people about. However this is a special case, this video stands above the crowd for several reasons. However the reason that I want to dwell on today is the fact that their video Kountry Gentleman features the General Lee! That’s right, it has the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard in it. While I realize that there may be some other music video out there that feature the General Lee, this one is actually worth watching. For starters, in many ways this video actually gives more respect to the original show, unlike the unfortunate film that unjustly shares the name of The Dukes of Hazzard and the corresponding music video. Anyway if you haven’t seen Kountry Gentleman I definitely would recommend it.
The creators of those wonderful little multi-colored bricks, Lego, have made the best CG film of the century! Well perhaps not, but it’s quite entertaining. Their spoof of Revenge of the Sith, is hilarious, and if you haven’t seen it, I highly recomend it. Revenge of the Brick originally could be seen on the Clone Wars Season 2 DVD, but it can now be seen on Lego’s site. If that link does not work for you here is a direct link to the animated short.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could play Window’s media files on a Mac without the Window’s Media player? Well it seems that there is a way. Flip4Mac has just been released for free, and it allows a Mac user to view WMV files and various other window’s media formats in Quicktime, instead of the outdated Window’s Media 9 player. The free version of Flip4Mac only allow’s you to view the files, however they have an upgrade path that allows you to author files in WMV. So far I am very pleased with the product, and let’s face it, you can’t beat free!
Welcome to my updated website. This site has been a few months in the making and has numerous enhancements over the old site which will hopefully allow for more frequent updates instead of staying stagnant for several years. Any comments or suggestions you may have are welcome, just e-mail me at the webmaster@jcrowan.com. Thanks.
